KWW’s Amanda Smith Earns Ohio State Bar Association Certified Specialist Designation

Jan 5, 2022

Kastner Westman & Wilkins attorney Amanda Smith has earned certification as a Specialist in Labor and Employment Law from the Ohio State Bar Association.

This certification recognizes Smith as having a high level of expertise in her area of practice. She joins Tom Green and Jim Wilkins as KWW attorneys with the Certified Specialist distinction.

To earn the certification, an attorney must demonstrate a substantial involvement in their specialty area; fulfill ongoing education requirements; be evaluated by peers and judges familiar with the attorney’s work; and pass a written exam.

“It’s certainly a rigorous process to become certified, as it takes into account practical experience, peer acknowledgement and an academic component,” Wilkins said.

“Amanda has achieved this status at a remarkably early point in her career compared to most other specialists. It shows that she has already earned the trust and respect of her peers. More importantly, we know that Amanda has rightfully earned the trust and respect of KWW clients who rely on her focused knowledge of labor and employment law. Amanda’s accomplishment helps further distinguish KWW in our area of focus.”

Smith is a 2014 graduate of the University of Akron School of Law and began her career with KWW that same year. In 2021, she was appointed Chairperson for the Labor and Employment Section of the Akron Bar Association.

Smith represents employers in many types of labor and employment matters, including charges before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Ohio Civil Rights Commission and other state fair employment practice agencies.

She also counsels employers on litigation, arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution matters, as well as wage/hour compliance, performance and leave management, discipline, and workplace policies. Contact her at asmith@kwwlaborlaw.com.
