Julie A. Trout

Associate
Julie has spent her entire life working to understand different perspectives to avoid and resolve problems. The middle of five siblings, Julie began developing her analysis and persuasion skills at a young age to quickly assess and resolve issues that arose between her highly competitive brothers and sister.

Julie’s love of learning led her to law school after gaining valuable practical experience serving as a supervisor for several years for a Fortune 500 company. This experience allows Julie to understand first-hand the challenges that can face an employer on a daily basis. Given her personal experience working with both customers and employees, Julie finds helping clients comply with the full range of labor and employment laws very fulfilling. Julie enjoys helping clients prevent problems by providing proactive advice on various topics, including complicated leave management or reasonable accommodation issues, wage/hour compliance, performance management and corrective action. In addition to this advice, Julie represents employers when discrimination charges arise, including before the EEOC, the NLRB, and state fair employment practice agencies.

Other Personal Background Information and Interests

While she was not born with the last name of Trout, Julie has spent a considerable portion of her life in the water as a competitive swimmer. She began competing at the age of six and went on to swim as a member of a three-time state champion swim team at Hawken School, which she captained her senior year. Julie also served as the swim team captain at Grove City College, where she earned a degree in International Business and studied French and Spanish. Julie and her spouse, Jon, find great joy in their three young children. They are quite busy with chasing after them and answering the thousands of (often humorous) questions that come from the children of an attorney and engineer.
