Wilkins, McKenzie named to “Best Lawyers” 2023 list; Trout, Karst “Ones to Watch”

Join us in recognizing Shareholders Jim Wilkins and John McKenzie, who have been selected for the Best Lawyers® in America 2023 edition. Associate attorneys Michael Karst and Julie Trout earned Best Lawyers®: Ones to Watch 2023 honors.

Wilkins, who has achieved this designation each year since 2019, was honored in the Employment Law-Management, Labor Law-Management and Litigation-Labor and Employment categories. 

McKenzie is a two-time honoree in the Employment Law Management, Labor Law-Management, and Litigation-Labor and Employment categories.

Trout is a three-time “Ones to Watch” honoree, while Karst makes his debut on the list.

Each year the international Best Lawyers organization conducts confidential peer-review surveys in order to recognize the leading lawyers in an array of legal practice areas.

Wilkins has been recognized by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in Labor and Employment Law since 2008. He works to represent and counsel employers on all aspects of the employment relationship, with an emphasis on union relations matters including collective bargaining negotiations and arbitration proceedings.

McKenzie represents employers in wrongful discharge, employment discrimination, wage and hour, and labor relations matters. McKenzie is a frequent presenter in the Akron business community and maintains the highest peer reviewed rating of AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

Trout is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and its Labor and Employment Law Section. She counsels clients on complicated leave management and reasonable accommodation issues, wage and hour compliance, and performance on management and corrective action.

Karst counsels clients on day-to-day employment law matters and litigating claims on behalf of employers involved in termination, wage and hour, and labor disputes.
